How we collect data and the 15% weight margin
Where every TV VESA pattern, weight and screen size on vesatv.com comes from, how wall mounts are matched to a TV, and why we add a 15% weight margin.
Last updated:
vesatv.com lists the mounting facts of TVs and the wall mounts that fit them. This page explains where each number comes from and how a mount is matched to a TV.
Where TV specifications come from
We read published documents: the manufacturer's product page, the specification sheet or the user manual, and in a few cases a retailer listing that prints the manufacturer's numbers. For each TV we record the VESA pattern, the weight without stand, the screen size and the mounting screw size.
Every value on a TV page links to the document it was read from, and the link carries the exact model number it was tied to. A value is shown only when a source states it for that model. If two sources disagree, or no source ties the number to the exact model, we do not show the value. We never fill a gap with a guess; where the screw size is not published you will see "See the manual".
How a TV gets a page
A TV page goes live only when its VESA pattern, weight and screen size are all confirmed by a source. TVs that fail this check are not listed. We publish in batches, so the list grows over time.
How we match a wall mount
For each TV we check three things against each mount's published specifications:
- Hole pattern. The mount must list the TV's VESA pattern, either in its list of supported patterns or inside its stated range. When a source does not make clear which of the two numbers is the width and which is the height, the mount must support both orientations (for example 400 x 300 and 300 x 400).
- Weight. The mount's maximum load must be at least the TV's weight without stand plus a 15% safety margin, rounded up to a whole pound. A 50.5 lb TV therefore needs a mount rated for at least 59 lb. The margin covers accessories, cable pull and the fact that listed ratings are tested in ideal conditions.
- Screen size. The TV's size must fall inside the mount's stated screen size range.
If a mount does not publish a VESA list or a weight limit, we leave it out. A mount that passes these checks fits on paper; it does not replace reading the mount's manual, your wall type and the stud or anchor guidance.
Where mount specifications come from
Mount VESA support, weight limits and screen ranges come from the manufacturer's own product page, and each mount links to its spec page. We show no prices because prices change constantly.
